Axis Upheaval
You know what's coming.

North Korea's six (and
counting) post nuke-detonation missile tests, continued ominous
rumblings from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Cesar Chavez, the Taliban and
even Fidel Castro will be blamed on the recent TV exposure of Dick
Cheney and George W. Bush.
You'd better hunker down
because the administration/media spin, explaining how the torture-mongers have sabotaged the touchy-feely righteousness of the
Czar of Change, will be enough to transport you from Topeka to The
Land of Oz before
you can say "Kim Jong Mentally Ill".
Of course, they're not
saying those things yet because it would be a sin to waste
the obfuscating media dominance of the lead story about the Sotomayor nomination and
the page two series chronicling GM's impending bankruptcy and
reorganization. This point is partially made by Ellen Ratner in a
FoxNews Blog spotted during the composition of this missive.
You also know that there is an
accurately named, well-defined Axis of Evil. Saddam Hussein scoffed at one too many UN resolutions and was
dealt with, as promised, by an administration committed to post-9/11
security.
But in the presence of a
new US president whose purpose is to denigrate the accomplishments
of his predecessor, the axis is working overtime to take back lost
respect by ramping up their saber-rattling and world-sobering
potential for terrorism with the ultimate WMD.
Their actions will
continue to the edge of a precipice -- or, heaven forbid, further --
if Obama fails to talk and act tough, starting with the disavowal of
his long-held belief that we need to talk with and send tele-prompted
video speeches to those who have sworn to destroy us.
Our own counter-threat
must be spelled out and somehow made believable. So instead of
blaming Bush and Cheney for stirring up the hornets' nest with their
valid, pragmatic criticism of Obama's weakness and naivete they have
a golden opportunity to agree not to change successful Bush
era policies.
There is an opportunity
to show the world that there is at least one area of solidarity
among Americans and that our safety and security trumps partisan
politics and every other other issue.
The alternative is
continued axis upheaval and the perpetuation of the Obama
administration's pre-9/11 mentality, which needs changing more than
anything else.
