Border-ing on the truth                                                                    click here to subscribe to the eddobloggo RSS feedsubscribe via RSS

By now you know quite well how the propaganda czars take fractional truths -- often smaller than half-truths -- and insert them into the Obama-prompter from whence they become left-wing media talking points.  Once polished, they sound like glowing examples of administration credibility and success to wanna-believers.

Wednesday night's TV prime time glom for universal health ca"But what did Obama actually SAY?re spinning was "Talkin' Loud and Sayin' Nothing" (James Brown AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais) an excellent example of what James Brown called Talkin' Loud and Sayin' Nothing.  Actually, if it weren't for that telling reverse race-baiting remark about the arrest of his black Harvard professor friend being stupid, Obama's show, like Jerry Seinfeld's, would have been about absolutely nothing.

Perhaps the best example of saying nothing and making it mean something is the urban legend that revolves around the enabling of 25 cadets to finish their training and graduate from the police academy to the streets of Columbus, Ohio via shovel-ready stimulus funds.  Of course, Obama, himself, stars in the video of the symbolic commencement ceremony.

Those 25 trainee cops have become the administration's representatives of the "millions of jobs being rescued and created" by the Obama Stimulus, perhaps because they are one of the only concrete examples -- albeit soft, uncured concrete -- of jobs that have actually been rescued.

In reality, half-a-million jobs have been lost during each month of the Obama administration's stimu-later and, despite their prediction that the maximum unemployment rate would peak at well under 9%, jobless numbers are poised to jump into double digits and it is likely that they will continue to rise or remain at that level for some time to come.

The following data needs to be snatched away from the left's spin doctors before they figure a way to turn the report into yet another distortion of the Dear Leader's legendary performance:

The analysis of census data from both the U.S. and Mexican governments, released Wednesday by the Pew Hispanic Center, highlights the impact of the economic downturn on Mexican immigrants, many of whom enter the United States illegally.  The study found that immigrants arriving from Mexico fell by 249,000 from March 2008 to March 2009, down nearly 60 percent from the previous year. As a result, the annual inflow of immigrants is now 175,000, having steadily decreased from a peak of 653,000 in 2005, before the bursting of the housing bubble dried up construction and other low-wage jobs.

If it is allowed to be spun, this statistical example of how weak our economy continues to be could end up sounding like a Vin Scully narrative of an unassisted Obama triple play in a future leftist media news report...

"By backing off of wall-building, going easy on the border drug wars and insuring Mexican immigrants that their lack of documentation will neither hinder their progress nor deny them any of the rights and privileges of US citizens, President Obama has created an atmosphere in which Mexicans and would-be immigrants of other ethnicities are once again comfortable with their friendly ally to the north.

In the spirit of international brotherhood, therefore, Mexicans have decided to assist America during this time of inherited economic crisis by voluntarily staying in their homeland.  The White House points to this cooperation as yet another reason why undocumented workers should be among those who will be covered by the universal health care bill that the president will be signing once the powerful Republican nay-sayers in Congress embrace the spirit of change being felt around the world."

Well, you can't say he hasn't reduced the number of illegal immigrants. Can't wait to see that spin. Well, maybe I can.

Half truths is being kind. If we had a journalist left in this world Barack the Clown would be called on his lies daily.
God knows there aren't any journalists left at the Times.

A spinmaster calls out the spin. It's only irony when it's unintentional.

[It's neither ironic nor unintentional, another_patriot. But I'm glad that you are copping to THEIR spinning in the process of criticizing mine -- although I don't think that was intentional, either. -ED]

It would be refreshing were you to actually approach the threshold of "bordering on the truth," eddo.

Obama is crashing.

[Should make those Taladega-lovin' NASCAR fans happy. -ED]

"Obama is crashing." LMAO His approval ratings are hovering around the 60% mark. That's crashing?

BuffaloBill57

Montgomery, AL Advertiser

[Which means that at least 40% of us dis-approve with more than three years left to mobilize a goodly number of those who thought he'd be a better president. Pretty 'crashing' for a guy who started out loved by most with only higher approval ratings on the horizon. -ED]

Ed you're cracking me up with this one. Too true my friend. I don't think the obama advisors are that good. Now slick willie on the other hand would've taken credit for reducing illegal entry, and felt their pain at the same time.

YES!! Because the right NEVER lies... Hahahahaha. The exact article could be written with right wing and W., Bachmann, etc. replacing left wing and Obama.

[I'm surprised you didn't say that the Obamanistas INHERITED their proclivity to spin the room. But at least you didn't deny their disingenuous-ness so perhaps there's hope for you. -ED]

Eddo....I'll be knocking on your door soon with my little clipboard in-hand with my ACORN hat on........oh wait, I mean my US Census hat.

Great Blog as always.

Did any of those cop trainees ever get to go to work? Seems to me I heard either they didn't get to start or lost their jobs because funding ran out.

[In fairness, I haven't seen that info anywhere. But it wouldn't be the first time that the administration "acted stupidly" regarding the police. -ED]

You have the same profoundly ignorant ideological blinders as a Rush Limbaugh or an Annie Coulter. Pretty "special" company. Keep fighting the facts and rationality spinmeister.

pastycloud

St. Cloud, MN Times

[So which is it Kool-Aid sippers? Is the right so powerful that anything we say demands major defense, "fixing" and inheritance-blame or are we so weak that we will never rise again to perpetrate our own sanity-based policies...with baggage like Rush and Annie that drags us down even further?
Or is it just your fear that people will realize how weak and ineffective socialism is? Is that what's at the core of your hate? -ED]

Kind of says it all when the Mexicans don't even want to come here anymore. I like the analogy of Obama and Seinfeld. Obama is very articulate, very clear with his speech. However he's the only one I know who can talk for a whole hour and say absolutely nothing.
