Amen. Ed Donath I am glad to know people like you exist. You are right on. Don't banter, don't speak your mind, don't question, don't point out the truth, just lay back, close your eyes and take it...because if you speak your mind, you are a racist...

I wonder if liberals who disagree with obama's Afghanistan policy (same as Bush's pretty much), disagree with his inaction on "don't ask, don't tell", DOMA, etc., dropping the government option on healthcare consider themselves racists?

It's a sad day when Joe the Plumber is more polite than a member of Congressman. But Rep. Wilson is too smart make a statement like "Not according to the wording of H.R. 3200 Section 246." Because people can look it up:
SEC. 246. NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS.
Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.
Much better strategy for Wilson to shout out "You Lie!" than to reveal that he can't read.

[Believe it or not, I don't disagree with you (even if you're quoting the version that was edited after the speech -- and I'm not saying that you are). However, the main issue here is the casual use of the R-word by the left. Assuming that Wilson is as dumb as you portray him, how does that make him a racist?
Van Jones may be a MENSA member but an argument can certainly be made that he is a racist as a result of a volume of his spoken words -- as opposed to Wilson's unfortunate two. -ED]
President Obama tried leading by example to address school children about the importance of education. Many "privilege" exercised their privilege of teaching their children that they did not have to listen to anything the president had to say. So, I really can't agree with you that the 'R' word should be censored. Those who are privileged naturally fear the loss of some privilege. The concept appears to be alive and well.

[IF this tangential "concept" you believe in exists, it is because you go out of your way to perpetuate it. And how much time, if any, did the Dear Leader devote to decrying the use of racial epithets in his edu-speech? Who uses the N-word more than inner city kids? -ED]
...Racism is a toxic slime used by some to try to poison those of us who disagree with President Obama's agenda. The problem with throwing this slime is you are bound to get some on you. I believe Expresident Carter dropped the whole bucket on himself. He needs to go back to his nursing home and shut his mouth if he wants to help Obama.

What exactly is the reason that Republican Joe Wilson was sitting amongst all those white folks in the Congress when he made that rude, dishonest, offensive, and disrespectful comment interrupting President Barack Obama's speech? Perhaps, you can elaborate on who he keeps company with, if he's not a "racist", as former President Jimmy Carter so eloquently inferred.

People who agree with President Obama's message and agenda cannot fathom why and how any rational, objective, well-meaning person would disagree with him. Therefore, those who disagree quite naturally are irrational, mean-spirited folks. And they must be motivated against him by their racism.
It's simple really. And, since Jimmy Carter said it's racially motivated, of course it cannot be.

A
couple days ago I
was speaking with a couple of those racists. I
guess they were racists, they opposed Obama's
foray into Afghanistan and his firing of Van
Jones. But since they opposed Obama that would
make them racists according to [the] haters.
Calling everyone a racist, including many of
those folks that were Obama allies, is not
helping. Amateurs don't know that. Obama does.
Which is why he keeps trying to repair damage
done by his 'friends'. When you insult people it
just guarantees they will get off their butts
and vote.

Joe Wilson is and was a
Patriot for his utterance. The timing may have
been bad, but the comment was correct and has
led to potential action in the Senate. No racism
there, just intelligence and a person who was
listening to the words, not the magic.

Why are people pretending
racism doesn't exist? Good grief. Wake up.
It does.
While so many conservatives use blanket
statements to constantly attack and promote
fear, they don't like blanket statements being
used against them. c The fact is, it is true.
Many white conservatives are very upset that a
black man is president and they are using the
worst and nastiest tactics possible. That is
just a fact.
Not everyone is a racist and racism isn't behind
everything. Yet don't expect better treatment
than what you dish out.

[Everything you wrote is true JT. But the left
uses the R-word for nearly EVERYONE who
disagrees with them. So when someone actually IS
a racist (Van Jones' recent out-ing comes to
mind) and needs to be taken to task for it, the
meaning of racist is so watered-down as to have
little impact. Remember the story about the boy
who cried wolf? -ED]
Never before in the last
4 decades have I noticed the inherent racial
rage in "enlightened liberals" as much as at
this minute. The Black American is waking
up to the fact the socialists, liberals
without/or with limousines have rode the race
card to death and the race project spotlights
the hypocrisy of liberal race baiters.

From your rant: "Was that
last statement about no coverage for illegal
aliens really truthful, Mr. President? Not
according to the wording of H.R. 3200 Section
246." Section 246 reads: "Nothing in this
subtitle shall allow Federal payments for
affordability credits on behalf of individuals
who are not lawfully present in the United
States." either joe wilson is illiterate or he
is the actual liar.
kirschbaum

[Is that how it read before
the editing that resulted from Wilson's
outburst, kirschbaum? If so, then it is
reasonable to believe -- before or after -- that
illegals may, in fact, receive health care on
the taxpayers' dime and that Obama could have
been lying and may continue to be a liar.
How? The Hippocratic Oath trumps health
care law in the mind of most doctors.
But even
if that ethics conflict did not exist, one might
read into this legislative mumbojumbo that only
the payment of "affordability credits" (whatever
they are or however they will later be defined) will be
excluded. Therefore, there may ultimately be
other ways for illegals to access the system.
While this doesn't make Wilson's outburst
any more excusable or less censurable, it
certainly does not disprove his accusation nor
does it make him either illiterate or a liar --
let alone a racist. -ED]
I will admit, I too am
tired of hearing about how all of Obama's
opposeers are closet racists. I'm not saying
that some of them AREN"T racists, I just think
it's a pointless and disprovable fact. Of course
some are racists. Duh. This is the United States
of America. Land of the south, Home of the
redneck. I grew up in the south as well, which
means I recognize that racism is probably the
most complicated emotion around. It's buried so
deep, that most don't even know it's there. My
own grandmother, who will be kind to and help
anyone who crosses her path, still thinks that
desegregation was the worst thing that happened
to the public school system. Somehow in her mind
this is not a racist position and doesn't
interfere with her friendships with African
Americans. My point you ask? It's complicated.
Way too complicated to be thrown around so
lightly.
And so some Obama opponents are racist. So what?
They have to live with their own ignorance and
we still have a black president. Would I like
there to be no racism, of course. It's a
deplorable emotion. But what does that have to
do with anything? I would also like to vacation
in the Maldives in one of those hot little
raised bungalows. That doesn't change the fact
that I can't afford it right now. When
congressmen break congressional rules and
disrespect the president on live television,
THEY are showing their own lack of class and
decorum. Only illiterate trash actually supports
that kind of behavior in congress.
But the real reason I'm tired of seeing the race
card played is because it distracts from the
discussion at hand. Once you are caught debating
whether someone is a racist, you have lost the
argument. You both have. You might as well be
arguing about whether unicorns are real. If your
main argument is "you're a racist!", you don't
have one. And the arguments these days are RIPE,
there's just no point in wasting time with
un-provable accusations.

He [Jimmy Carter]
who has gone down in history as the worst
president of the United States so far (note I
said so far) has very little in the way of
credibility as far as I'm concerned. His use of
racism shows me his lack of understanding,
still, of anything going on in this country. He
was a weak ineffectual milksop then and he still
is now.

Jimmy, the hands down
worst example Obie could follow, still uses the
"r" word. He even bad mouthed the South trying
to justify use of it. Not too smart for a
Georgia native. Obie seems to be following his
lead despite not agreeing with the racist
assessment.
I am glad Jimmy is still around to show us what
drivel really means. I have seen all manner of
garbage heaped on W, most of it more telling
about the accuser, but Jimmy genuinely brings
such home.
If you recall 17% mortgages, Judge Blood holding
American dead hostage, 442 days of torment for
the live ones, you can understand how Obie is
headed down a bad path.

According to the research
I have read to date, everyone is born a racist,
it is an innate character flaw. Apparently we
don't even realize that we are racist, we just
are. It also does not matter if there is no
tangible evidence of racism in our lives (it is
probably just suppressed behind a mask of
decency). Well if that is the case, and everyone
is a racist, we can toss that argument aside and
get back to the issues that really matter.
