Having
graduated from defensiveness and
denial in the Rev. Wright matter to
a photo-op and beer summit in the
Prof. Gates case to a
more traditional apology for his
premature dismissal of Ms. Sherrod, the president has been
forced in these instances to take responsibility for his own
and his so-called politically
correct Progressive Movement's
ongoing race card-playing reactions,
talking points and strategies.
Obama neither inherited this serious
divisiveness problem nor does he
have anyone but himself and his
supporters to blame for
perpetuating it.
Certainly, it would be nice to hear
an "I should have waited for the
proof" apology
(like the one
afforded to Shirley Sherrod)
offered
to the Tea Party movement and any
number of r-worded conservative
personalities. No
one, of course, is holding his or her breath
waiting for that to happen.
In any case, the
take-away point that is so clearly
illustrated by these race-related blunders is that Obama
has been on the wrong side of each
and every one of them. Why,
therefore, would anyone continue to
unquestioningly believe any of the president's
warnings, claims and proposals?
In both the Gates case and in the
recent flap over Shirley Sherrod's
speech to the NAACP, Obama's obvious
prejudice was exacerbated by his
haste to speak or act. He
obviously believes that he is in
possession of impeccable instinct
and fails to be disabused of that
erroneous assumption in spite of
these multiple embarrassments.
How
ironic it is, therefore, that this
administration's biggest spending
programs have been sold, in essence,
by saying "Trust me. I not
only know what's best for you but
this legislation must be passed ASAP
before an emergency becomes a
catastrophe. Pass the bill
now. Read the bill later."
How much more ironic it is that
lengthy "deliberations" have only
been undertaken by this president in
regard to taking action necessary to
expedite private sector jobs
creation, the winning of a war, the
security of our borders, reacting to
the worst environmental disaster in
our history and dealing with threats
from enemy nations and global
terrorists.
That's when the deck gets shuffled
and the race card gets replaced by
the slowness card.
