The following is a transcript of a Rod Blagojevich phone conversation

that was intercepted by an anonymous eddobloggo.com contributor...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Good Morning, this is The What Can You Say Hotline. I'm Rachel and I'm ready to assist you.  What is your question please?"

"Hello Rachel.  My name is Rod. Here's my question:

If, as a kid, my family lived in a small apartment and I was a shoeshine boy and my father had a little laundromat in a black community -- in other words, if I had seen it all growing up -- could I now say that I'm blacker than Barack Obama?"

"Since, as Harry Reid might say, I do not detect a Negro dialect in your speech, Rod, I need to clarify and ask you a few personal questions before I can assist you.  Would that be OK?"

"Sure, fire away Rachel.  Like I've already told everyone else numerous times, I have absolutely nothing to hide."

"Great Rod.  For starters, are you an African-American? Light-skinned and/or bi-racial would count."

"No, both sides of my family are Caucasian."

"Do you happen to know the president, Rod?"

Barack Obama and Rod Blagojevich know each other's secrets.

"In fact, I do know the president.  More importantly, he knows that if I wanted to I could tell you nearly everything about him because I truly have seen it all."

"Are you a Democrat?"

"Yes."

"So far so good!  Are you a US senator?"

"No.  But I am the former governor of a liberal state and I recently appointed the nation's only African-American senator."

"I'm sorry, Rod.  You would have to be a Democrat senator to get away with with saying what you want to say.  Even then, Rod, you would have to make a few token apologies afterward."

"Well, what if I left out the blacker-than-Obama part and just said: 'This guy was elected based simply on hope.  What the bleep -- everything he's saying is on the teleprompter?'"

"That's a close call, Rod, but I wouldn't go there either -- certainly not with an expletive."

"I'm sorry, Rachel, please excuse my French.  So what if I just said that not so long ago real politicians would have sent a wannabe like Barack Obama out to get them their coffee?"

"You would have to be a former president -- a black Democrat former president at that -- to make that one fly.  Any more questions today, Rod?"

"Nope, that's about it Rachel.  Thanks for your help."

"That's why we're here.  Feel free to call The What Can I Say Hotline as often as necessary.  Watch what you say and have a nice day."

READER COMMENTS...

In 2010  such a conversation would not surprise me.   Red, yellow, black, and white, when will people see the light?

"'This guy was elected based simply on hope. What the bleep -- everything he's saying is on the teleprompter?'" At least President Obama can read a teleprompter. It has been proven that his predecessor, George W Bush had a barely adequate reading comprehension level to understand short, whispered "prompts" from his White House handlers and advisors. Rod is just showing his resentment at being caught by the "system' that he thought he controlled.

[Wait 'til Blago (he probably would have been a cabinet member or ambassador had he not been under indictment) rolls on your Dear Leader and his hypocrite Chi-kom buds. What will it say on the teleprompter then? "I am not a crook!"?  You conveniently ignored Harry Reid's racist remark and went right into Bush Derangement Syndrome mode. Very predictable. -ED]

What can I say? You ain't ready for prime time 'dog. Saturday Night Live is still safe!

The Dems DEFINITELY have a DOUBLE STANDARD. but we have always know this. Almost EVERY DEMOCRAT has shown their two faced standards so what else is new?

Lombago: I have come to appreciate your impeccable and reliable sources for the news. If you ever need a job I am pretty sure that one of the tabloids will jump at the chance to have you on their staff (or is it shaft)?

I was just looking through your national comments, you actually posted the dude from Wausau's remark?

Yes, keep swinging away with those gloves. That's a sure way to beat your opponents (no pun intended). And yes, only democrats have double standards.  Republicans never do (except maybe when it comes to family values). As long as we keep this country divided into two main political parties, we can get everything done we need to get done. All we need to do is to get the great Republicans back in office. They did such a great job with this country. I can hardly wait until they straighten it all out again.

[Me too!.  Too bad you chose to defend the racist comments of these Democrats by changing the subject. Typical lefty hypocrisy -- on MLK's birthday, no less. -ED]

...The gist of all your blogs is that Republicans walk on water and democrats are evil. Look at the comments on your site. They are all anti-democrat - accusing democrats of having double standards as though Republicans are without fault. Most politicians are evil.

So you keep swinging away with the gloves trying to beat your opponents. As long as we are divided we will never get out of the stupid rut that our country is in. So keep driving the wedges with the sledge hammer, and keep swinging away with the gloves. It does so much good for the world.

[It is an outright lie to say that I do not post lefty comments. Along with posting your smarmy diatribes from time to time (it appears to be twice now in this piece alone if you read the previous comment) it is my stock-in-trade to answer back ALL of the kommies who argue my points. Your credibility is totally shot and I am posting this one to prove you wrong again! -ED]

It fits in perfectly with the democrats hypocrisy. Consider Ted Kennedy's actions at Chappaquiddick. Had that been you or I we would still be in jail. I seem to remember a statement made by a former POTUS "I did not have sex with that woman." And all the resulting support for him just being a "man." And later on his statement that he did it "because he could." Had a sitting Republican committed those actions the howling would still be a cacophony of shrieks from them. In my 63 years on earth and of the past 45 of them being able to vote, it always seemed that the democrats used the negative and demon-ization process to try and ruin their opponents reputations. It would be a huge step in politicians favor to stop the double-talk and double standards, but they just cant seem to help themselves. I remember a term from my Latin class that sums it up - anguis in herba that seems to fit their persona.

I look forward to you reporting on the Pat Robertson reaction to the earthquake in Haiti. [as you say] The news is the news.

Wausau, WI Daily Herald

[It sure is and Robertson has been a loose cannon and arguably a hypocrite for a long time. But the subject du jour is DEMOCRAT hypocrisy, loose cannon-ism and racism.  Changing it only helps to proves my point that lefties won't confront their double standard.  Furthermore, Robertson is not on the public payroll. -ED]

If I get a hair piece that only moves as far as the glue allows it to can I be a Chicago style caucasian politician?

Reid's comment wasn't racist. It was an observation that the white American voting public is generally racist. Obama wasn't offended, why do you pretend to be?

skaterdave

Lansing, MI State Journal

[I don't pretend to be offended, I am personally offended when people play the race card -- especially people who would otherwise, themselves, pretend to be offended and would ask for your head or mine on a plate if we ever got caught saying what they said.  I am particularly offended by the liberals' double standard and if Obama wasn't such a wimp he would decry what has been said as though he is still a candidate for his office rather than an incumbent kommie hack. -ED]

I listened to McCain the other night and took it out on a friend and had to apologize. In our life time when has there been so much secrecy in the D.C. we created??

[Kinda like one of those erstwhile soviet countries? -ED]

The lefties have the whole country brainwashed that anything racist, negative, hostile and degrading they say is insignificant, but if said by anyone on the right it's treason.
