Where are the jobs? is the new Where are the WMD?   click here to subscribe to the eddobloggo RSS feed RSS feed

Or you might have your own favorite question or two among those that have replaced the famous anti-Bush Where are the WMD? mantra.

Where is the global warming? is a good one that has been asked often in our neck of the New York woods this winter.

Where is the transparency? has been one of my personal favorites since it was demanded of Congress that they pass the 1100-page stimulus bill unread. This particular question has been asked with even greater frequency since Czar Number 17 and his subsequent Marx Brothers and Sisters got appointed.

Where is the "hope" that we were promised along with the "change"? is one you don't hear as often as some of the others but is is, nonetheless, at the crux of Obama criticism, particularly as it relates to jobs and the economy.

In his oft-repeated campaign pledge the president made the hollow promise: "We will be using cutting-edge technologies to create a new level of transparency, accountability and participation for America's citizens."

If you actually voted for Obama, you may have other questions to ask about his foot-dragging and broken foreign and domestic policy promises in such areas as:

  • single-payer health care

  • Iraq and Afghanistan

  • same-sex marriage

  • redistributing wealth to corporate entities

  • energy

  • Gitmo closure

  • the Patriot Act

  • First Amendment issues

  • Bush administration trials

  • government Internet control

  • women's rights

Meanwhile, the administration continues to tout its concocted Created/Saved Jobs stats while anywhere from 11,000 to half a million or more jobs have gone missing during each and every month of the Dear Leader's presidency.

Joe the Schmuck says: "I guarantee that the stimulus is working" in his roll as spokesman for the $787 billion stimu-later.

This has all occurred coincidental to the vice-president's ongoing commentary, "I guarantee that the stimulus is working" in his roll as spokesman for the $787 billion Stimu-later.  Joe says that it will not only achieve its stated purposes but that all is well in the meantime.

You can certainly put your trust in Biden's predictions.  One of his earlier guarantees was "If Barack Obama is elected president, there will be an international crisis within six months."  As international crises go, Nukes in Iran ranks right up there with the Cuban Missile Crisis that was faced by newbie John F. Kennedy.

JFK, in a moment of courageous brinksmanship, called Khruschev's bluff.  Most of us, however, have come to realize BHO is so full of himself that he believes he can ultimately grab the bullhorn away from the SWAT team and talk the hostage-taker out of the bank before the bomb goes off.

If you don't think the Dear Leader has a God Complex, explain why two of his most oft-used words are Create and Save and why he constantly warns us that "there will be a catastrophe..." if we don't put every penny of our money into the collection plate immediately.

Amazingly, the otherwise faithless still have all the faith in the world in the person who has promised the most and delivered the least.

READER COMMENTS...

Where is the global warming?  All the heat is in Copenhagen where the prostitutes are giving all COP15 attendees free sex.

Where is the transparency?  What this administration is doing (and the loyalty displayed by the drive-by-media) is totally transparent to anyone that has half a brain.

Where is the “hope” that we were promised along with the “change”?  I for one certainly have “hope” that this “change” will stop soon, before we achieve 3rd world status.

Depending on what day of the week it is, our brilliant government reports a different number of jobs they have created or saved.

Actually I don't blame you for being cranky - as you watch the economy improve, thanks to the efforts of the Prez. It's okay; but admitting that you were wrong isn't so hard after you do it once or twice. The CBO, though, which estimated jobs saved and created at 600,000 to 1.6 million thanks to the stimulus, is NOT part of the administration.

Hey by the way, "your neck of the woods" looks beautiful.

[Any improvement, Craig, is purely coincidental and would likely have occurred anyway given the percentage of $timu-later actually spent thus far. The job stats are beyond wrong and you insult your own intelligence and the smarts of kommies everywhere by harping on that created/saved nonsense. After 17-25,000,000 lost jobs since the Dear Leader's inauguration the bright spot today is that only 11,000 people lost work last month. Furthermore, I'm never cranky when I get to shovel snow. Poor folk in TX are suffering from Global Warming though...having a tough time finding snow shovels. -ED]

Ed, the transparency is there, I see right through obama and biden's BS. As far as everything else I guess it depends on your definintion of accomplishment and character.

I just read a story based on information from a government agency that forecasts U S oil consumption will not return to the level of 2005 until 2029.

My guess is the government will put a surtax on businesses who have laid off workers (the word has meaning) if they are not rehired. Problem is many of those businesses no longer exist.

We lose 15,000 jobs and 850,00 people fall off of the 2 year unemployment rolls. That's how Obama gets he unemployment rate to drop .02%.  Just make up your own math and sell it with a big cheeze-eatin' grin. The media will believe anything this dude says at this point.  Next week will be a laugh in Copenhagen I say Nopenhagen to our stupendous commander in Dopenhagen

Haven't you heard Smilin' Joe Big mouth Biden? "the stimulus is working better than expected" soooo NO worries everybody must be working that wants to....

It's the Obamanomy stupid. The jobs are in nations which undercut US labor standards. Any competent executive would put America first and use protections to support our national security and labor, rather than corporate profits. Thieves act differently.

Eddo, haven't you read the latest figures....
One million jobs have been created, mostly in the new green/energy producing markets.... and in obama's head.
The Perons used to make the same type of claims too, as the people starved.  Socialism at it's best!

[That's more good news! At that rate we'll have half of the jobs lost during the DL's first year back by the end of his term. -ED]

Great questions!  It would be nice if some reporters would have the nerve to ask him directly.

Green Jobs! Haven't you heard? The new Energy Code kicks in Jan 1 (that was postponed by Gov. A.S. from last June). The Codified Green Jobs should be the last nail in the coffin of the Construction Industry, but don't worry - the third party paper pushers will be over seeing ALL refrigerant recharges, mechanical equipment upgrades, water heater change outs and high efficacy light fixture changes. Wow, wouldn't you LOVE that job - to document, register and pay fee (that you pass along to consumer) to the pseudo "not for profit agency" (sure, I got swamp land for sale) that oversees the third party raters?

Myopic governmental control, regulation and FEES ratcheted up another notch!

No one on the White House staff, or the Czars, or the academics who attended this [jobs] summit ever created a job. Meeting a payroll is a bit more complicated than meeting a bus, though they wouldn't know.
